Getting started
Add a horse. It gets a place in your stable and a pixel self in the paddock.
Catch a sound. Video and Audio record when you tap the shutter, Photo takes a picture, Upload picks a clip you already have. iOS asks for the camera and microphone the first time. Nothing is kept until you tap the shutter.
Live. Neigh listens while the screen is open and keeps a short moment each time the horse calls. It stops when the phone locks, the app goes to the background, or after five minutes with no horse sound, and checks less often (and says so) when the phone is warm or the battery is low.
The sample clip in the app is free for everyone. Your own clips need Neigh Plus.
What a reading is
A reading names the call Neigh heard (a whinny, a nicker, a snort), writes it onto the footage and shows the second of sound it rests on. When a recording cannot carry an answer, Neigh says so and shows you why.
It reports what it measured in a horse’s calls. It is not veterinary advice and no substitute for your own eyes or a vet. Filters are costumes: no look says anything about the horse. See how we measure and what we never claim.
Neigh Plus
$59.99 a year, or $5.99 a week, in US dollars, for unlimited clips. The App Store shows the price in your currency before you confirm. It is bought in the iPhone app through the App Store. There is no free allowance and no free trial.
Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple Account.
Cancel: iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions › Neigh. Apple is the seller, so only Apple can cancel it. Deleting the app or your Neigh account does not cancel it.
Refund: go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple Account you paid with, and choose the Neigh purchase. Apple decides refunds; we cannot issue one and never see your card.
Restoring a purchase
Sign in to the App Store with the Apple Account that bought Neigh Plus, then in Neigh open Settings › Subscription and tap Already paid? Restore purchases. Neigh also checks with the App Store when it starts, so a paid plan usually comes back by itself. If not, check it is active under iPhone Settings › your name › Subscriptions, then write to us.
Your account
Neigh asks for an account (Apple, Google or an emailed code) when you set up your first horse. It keeps your stable, so your horses come back on a new phone. Signing in does not upload a recording.
To delete it, with or without the app, see Delete your Neigh account.
Delete your Neigh account
In the app: signed in, open Settings › Account › Delete account and confirm. It is deleted straight away.
Without the app: email info@cipherandrow.com with the subject “Delete my Neigh account”, from the address your account uses, or tell us that address and whether you sign in with Apple, Google or an emailed code. We reply to check the account is yours, delete it within 30 days, and write to say it is done.
What is deleted: your account (its sign-in, email address and name), your stable and how you drew each horse, the days you used the app, readings and recordings on care-team links, your Memories backup, your feedback posts, and your friends and friend codes. If you signed in with Apple or Google, Neigh is disconnected from it.
What is not: recordings, readings and photos on your phone stay there until you delete the app. Neigh Plus is not cancelled: cancel it with Apple (how) or Google Play, wherever you bought it. The record of the purchase stays so it can be restored. Sounds and still photos you shared and anonymous usage counts were never joined to your account: to remove a sound, email us with roughly when you shared it; shared photos go after two years, or sooner with Delete photos I shared in Settings.
Privacy
Clips are read on your phone and are not uploaded to be read. Each launch sends one anonymous count that carries nothing about you or your horse; usage counts and error reports wait for your yes, and saying no changes nothing. See our privacy page and the app’s full policy at app.horsetranslator.ai/privacy.
When something is not working
“You turned the camera down” or “You turned the microphone down.” In iPhone Settings, tap Neigh and switch Camera and Microphone on. If another app is using them (a call, a video app, a voice memo), close it and tap again.
Some sounds are unnamed, or the naming model has not arrived. Neigh downloads a 91 MB naming model once. On mobile data it waits for wifi unless you switch on Naming model on mobile data in Settings; until then it leaves sounds unnamed rather than guessing. On wifi, tap Try the download and read again.
“This one is mostly a person talking.” Neigh will not name a horse call over someone speaking. Pick a moment where the horse is loudest, or record with nobody talking. For wind, shield the microphone or get closer if you safely can.
Still stuck? Write to us with what the app said.
